A Love Letter to Fluffy

Dear Fluffy,
There are two things that I would like to say. The first thing I would say to you is one that I said all the time and the second I have not expressed, at least not in words.
First, I love you. I love you with all my heart. I love you like any mother would love her child. I told you this every night before I went to bed, and I hope that you heard me and that you understood what I meant. I also would say this every time I let you outside and I would tell you to be safe, I was hoping that my words would protect you and comfort you on your adventures. I am not sure that saying I love you adequately explains what I feel for you. You are my family; you are my fur baby. I loved taking care of you, from feeding you and brushing you to taking you to your annual vet appointments. I loved spending time with and getting down on the floor to pet you and to play games with you. I think most of all I loved listening to your purr because that meant that you were happy and content and that is all I ever wanted for you. All I ever wanted was for you to have more good years than bad. That was my greatest wish for you; to have more happy memories than sad ones. Although you were not with us for as long as I would have liked, I hope that we gave you as many wonderful moments and memories as you gave us.

The second thing that I would like to say to you is thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing to rescue me, to rescue us. Thank you for not giving up on making our home your forever home. I am sure you could sense my love for you mingled with a bit of worry and anxiety in the beginning, but you kept stopping by every day and accepting our food and pets. Thank you for running up the stairs that cold winter night and being such a good girl and falling asleep so sweetly next to Sam. Thank you for coming back home every time we let you out. Thank you for being such a source of peace for both Sam and me. Nothing could brighten a bad day or calm my nerves like watching you run around and listening to the sound of your purrs. Brushing your fur was the most soothing thing I could do on a rough day. Thank you for being you, a creature full of life with the soul of a kitten. Thank you for bringing us presents and letting us know how much you appreciated everything we did for you. Thank you for letting me know that you loved me. I will never forget after we got back from a trip, I woke up and I could hear Sam letting you into the house. You ran to the bedroom and peaked around the bed looking to make sure I was there, that I was back home. I knew then that you loved me. Thank you for choosing us to be your forever family.
Fluffy please remember this, I love you and I thank you.
Love,
Mom
